Although Arnold Schwarzenegger has proclaimed that he will be back for any "Terminator" movie franchise, it turned out that he might not end up in a film for quite some time. The "Terminator: Genisys" has been put on indefinite hold.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, David Ellison has announced the production of another "Terminator" movie series but it opened to a $27 million domestically. Although it earned a total of $112 million in China, the more or less $150 million budget movie will be a box office bomb. Sources then confirmed that the movie is on hold.
"Paying for movies is one thing. Steering them creatively is another. I think [Ellison] learned a real lesson," says an insider with awareness of the situation. "I don't think he was listening to anybody."
However, Slash Film reported that the franchise may not totally end but Paramount won't be in a rush for the production of the Terminator 6 or Terminator 7. It was also indicated that James Cameron will hold back the rights to the franchise in 2019.
In the movie, Emilia Clarke who is best known as Daenerys in the "Game of Thrones" has been blamed for the flop of the "Terminator: Genisys". Movie News Guide noted that her acting skills has been questioned and criticized. As a result, sources say they don't want her back for the movie series. The reports say she lack the star power which they thought she had.
But, the producers and the directors cleared out that Clarke and Jai Courtney "are not poisonous" though they are deficient in the box office muscle. It was highly believed that the movie failed miserably because of them too. Despite the success of Ellison's recruitment for Schwarzenegger, it seems like the fans will have to wait to see him in a Terminator film.
"Terminator: Genisys" has so far grossed more than $440m worldwide but new reports insist a feeble $89m US total behind a $150m production budget. This means the movie will still lose money despite the given records.
