Last week, the director's chair was reported still vacant. And just recently, Vin Diesel hinted that he should be the one to helm "Fast and Furious 8".
On Thursday, Diesel posted a lengthy status on his official Facebook page. He revealed that his mother told him to either direct the eight installment of "Fast and Furious" franchise or he won't just do it. He also believed that her mother trusted him so much that's why she was pushing him to the director's chair.
"But I wrote it off as just a mother's love and belief in me, though she has seen first hand what I've done to make these movies defy expectations and become increasingly successful, even when the studio thought I was crazy... haha," he wrote.
He also promised that the script would come out great within next two weeks. However, The Hollywood Reporter indicated that the studio was not happy with his post on his social media account and even with the belief that he might be the filmmaker. It will unlikely be happening says the source.
On Deadline, it was reported that Diesel also thinks of Rob Cohen to take the director's chair instead. According to him, Cohen would be capable of doing the final movie with his own hands. He also reiterated that Cohen will manage the Brian O'Connor issue uprightness. But, the idea is also far from possible.
Reports are circulating that the studio was eyeing both Justin Lin who also directed the previous "Fast and Furious" movies and James Wan. But due to the conflicts of their schedules, both filmmakers won't be able to take the project.
Now, rumors say Ericson Core, the cinematographer on the first installment, or Louis Leterrier (Now You See Me, Clash of the Titans, The Incredible Hulk) is the possible prospects for the vacant position. Although the director's chair remains vacant, "Fast and Furious 8" has been scheduled for a 2017 release.
It has been reported that the script still needs a little work on it. Do you think Vin Diesel could make it as the director of the final sequel of "Fast and Furious"?
