The Season 2 premiere of "The Leftovers" showed Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux), his girlfriend Nora (Carrie Coon) and his daughter Jill arriving at Jarden, Texas. The town is nicknamed "Miracle" because it is not affected by the Departure phenomenon in Season 1 which killed 2 percent of the world's population.
The first minutes of the premiere were spent introducing the town and its residents particularly the Murphy family. It wasn't until 45 minutes into the episode or nearly the end that the Garveys appeared on the screen reports Christian Today.
EP Damon Lindelof however revealed in his interview with TV Line that the second episode of Season 2 will bring back the focus on the Garveys and their journey to Texas.
"The second episode is purely through the point of view of the Garveys, and it will start prior to the moment when we see them arrive in Miracle," Lindelof explained. "The audience deserves some of the math that led them there."
The episode is titled "A Matter of Geography" and according to the synopsis that can be seen on IB Times, it will reveal how Kevin and the group made the decision to leave Mapleton. The installment will feature flashbacks of the weeks leading up to the events in the premiere. Back in New York, Nora receives a strange offer for her house from some mysterious buyers who have a morbid curiosity in her home thanks to its recent traumatic history. However, the money will be tempting as she and Kevin debate over a cross-country move.
Once in Miracle, Kevin gets entangled in the Murphys' family problems. John wakes up after an earthquake-like occurance seen in the premiere only to find his daughter Evie missing. Kevin will try to help and based on the promo for the episode, he will encounter serious drama in the process.
Problems seem to have followed Kevin from New York to Miracle. As the series moves to another location, fans hope that the show's theme will shift into something a little less dark and the characters a bit more hopeful than last season.
