Resident Evil 7 Release Announcement Before End of 2015 Imminent; Capcom to Use Epic Games' Unreal Engine 4?

By

Hardcore fans of the long-running RE franchise who are looking forward to Resident Evil 7 must be hyped with the latest news surrounding the release announcement of the next main entry in the core game series. Rumors are also rife that Capcom maybe be using Epic Games' latest engine, the Unreal Engine 4, to power the new title.

According to Game Spot, Capcom veteran producer Masachika Kawata dropped hints on the development of Resident Evil 7 and said that gamers must keep an eye for future reveals in the most recent issue of Japan's Dengeki PlayStation Magazine

"We're currently not at a state to talk about it," Kawata stated bluntly in response to a question pertaining to the Resident Evil 7 release as reported via Siliconera. "But please stay tuned," he added.

Apparently, Capcom is keeping specific details under wraps with regard to the development of the sequel to RE 6 launched in 2012. At this time, the company is busy working on a new Resident Evil spinoff shooter video game and a number of HD remake versions such as Resident Evil 0-HD Remaster set to hit stores in early 2016.

As Kawata said, Capcom is recently making remastered versions HD of its popular Resident Evil classics so as to "respond to as much demand as possible" and realize potential growth. Such is the case on the recently anounced Resident Evil 2 Remake.

Meanwhile, rumors have been making the rounds online that Capcom maybe using Epic Games' latest engine, Unreal Engine 4, to power Resident Evil 7. Some of the upcoming video games currently developed using this state-of-the-art technology include Shenmue 3, Street Fighter V, Kingdom Hearts 3, and a lot more .

This speculation made it to the news during an interview of Epic Games Japan's executive boss Kawasaki Takayuki who talked about how their company's new engine has been widely used in making tons of big titles in Japan. He went on to reveal that more release announcements can be anticipated and uttered that one major AAA project developed using Unreal Engine 4 will be unveiled before 2015 ends.

Game Ranx reports that this statement of Takayuki has spawned fans to guess that the big scale title that he was talking about is Resident Evil 7. This is based on the ground that most of the huge franchise games have already been confirmed.

On such note, Resident Evil 7 release announcement before the end of the year seemed to be imminent, although, it remains uncertain whether the latest iteration of the franchise will use Unreal Engine 4 or not. Capcom does own a proprietary engine known as Panta Rhei, however, it was reported to have been gone for long.

Back in October 2013, a reference to Resident Evil 7 release was leaked on a contract employee's resume. It won't be long now for fans to receive new information from Capcom as there's just more than a couple of months to go before the year ends. Stay tuned.
