'Indiana Jones 5' will bring back the Steven Spielberg to direct returning leading man Harrison Ford. The popular filmmaker admitted that 'Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark', his first ever work in the franchise, was his favorite film.

Disney's procurement of Lucasfilm led to speculations of a fifth installment for the action-adventure franchise until Lucasfilm announced that it would happen yet gave no indication of any possible timeframe for its production and release. According to /Film, rumors of Chris Pratt replacing Harrison Jones for the title role have been denounced by producer Frank Marshall himself. When asked if it was just an internet rumor, Marshall answered, "Yeah. I mean, we've had no discussions on Indy 5 to date."

A recent interview by Yahoo! revealed that Spielberg plans to work with long-time collaborator, Ford, for 'Indiana Jones 5'. Spielberg talked about his future projects during a promotional stint for his newest film 'Bridge of Spies' with Oscar-winner Tom Hanks. The 68-year old filmmaker teased, "We've gotta figure this out because now, Tom [Hanks] is tied with Harrison Ford: Harrison and I did four movies, Tom and I have done four movies... Now I'll probably do an Indy 5 with Harrison, [so] it'll be five for Harrison, four for Tom."

Spielberg, who directed all four films in the franchise, admitted that he would return for the fifth 'Indiana Jones' film but didn't specify as to whether the project has been given the go-signal from the studios. It was previously reported producer Kathleen Kennedy that no script had been done as of the present.

The director also admitted that as much as he disliked watching movies he has done in the past, he had a fondness for his first ever film in the franchise, 'Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark'. The film was released in June 12, 1981 and earned a staggering $389 million against an $18 million budget. It was the top-grossing films for that year and remains one of the highest-grossing films in history.

According to Collider, the appeal of 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' may also be attributed to its character-driven plot that valued human interaction and dialogue over plain visuals. The first film was monumental to its genre and made Indiana Jones one of the most iconic characters in pop culture. The film was nominated for nine Academy Awards in 1982 including Best Picture.

'Indiana Jones 5' is an upcoming action-adventure film to be directed by Steven Spielberg. It will see the return of Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones. It is the fifth installment in the popular series and will follow 2008's 'Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull'.
