'Deadpool' leading man Ryan Reynolds expressed his pride over the upcoming Marvel comic book live-action adaptation and that he was not afraid of competing with other upcoming releases. He also admitted to stealing a costume from the set.

According to Games Radar, the 38-year old actor said that he was quite proud of the R-rating bestowed on his upcoming science-fiction adventure film. He said, "But what I'm most proud of is we got to make the movie in the way it should have been made, which is rated R at a very modest budget." Reynolds will star as the titular anti-hero in a standalone film that will focus on the character's origins and story through his own perspective.

His character first appeared in a 1990s issue of the Marvel comic books 'The New Mutants' series. At first, he was depicted as a supervillain and eventually evolved into a heroic protagonist. He is described as a mentally unstable and disfigured mercenary who is best known for his loud and obnoxious behavior - hence the nickname "Merc with a Mouth".

Bad reputation aside, Deadpool possesses a superhuman healing factor derived from Wolverine that allows him to readily regenerate at an accelerated speed should he be wounded or greatly injured. He is also immune to most poisons and drugs as well as resistant to diseases. To top it off, Deadpool is a deadly and extremely skilled hand-to-hand combatant, which makes him quite the noteworthy assassin.

The upcoming film will compete against other much-awaited 2016 releases such as 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice', 'X-Men: Apocalypse', and 'Captain America: Civil War', according to ComicBook.com. Reynolds revealed that he wasn't the least bit intimidated by it. He said, "I mean, Deadpool's greatest superpower is annoying the sh*t out of people... So I imagine that he would spark a heavy wave of ire from any one of those groups." It was also revealed that the "Merc with a Mouth" will be breaking the "Fourth Wall" by speaking directly to the audience - taking his foul language up straight to his viewers.

According to Cinema Blend, Reynolds got so attached to his character that he admitted to pilfering Deadpool's suit as a souvenir. He said that he had a lot of fun wearing it and will therefore take it home with him.

'Deadpool' is intended to be the eight installment in the 'X-Men' cinematic series scheduled to be released on February 12, 2016. It is directed by Tim Miller and written for the big-screen by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. It stars Reynolds as Wade Wilson a.k.a. Deadpool, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Ed Skrein as Ajax, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Gina Carano as Angel Dust, and Andre Tricoteux as Colossus.
