PlayStation VR Reportedly Features Time of Flight Laser-Based Systems; Gran Turismo 7 May Be Optimized

Over the past months, details about Sony's PlayStation VR are surfacing around the Internet. The PlayStation VR is considered as the ultimate weapon in gaming that creates new and exciting experiences for consumers.

The Sony PlayStation VR signifies as the company's first-ever real venture into the world of virtual reality. According to Sony, their goal with this virtual reality device is to bring a sense of presence that will make players feel like they are absolutely inside the world of a game. This innovative headset is said to be powered by the PlayStation 4, which works with a number of best games on the market.

As previously reported by VCPost, the upcoming PlayStation VR features full position tracking that lets the users to experience immersive 3D games in a full 360-degree environment. It is also set to be released next year with at least 10 games to pick from.

In addition, PlayStation VR is compatible with the motion control elements build into the average Dualshock 4 gamepad. It also uses a set of PlayStation Move controller and sports a 960 by 1080 per eye resolution.

Sony announced that it has acquired the Belgian 3D vision company, SoftKinect, which might use its hand-tracking technology alongside the forthcoming PlayStation VR system for PlayStation 4. SoftKinect specializes in depth-sensing technologies, particularly Time of Flight (ToF) laser-based systems. The ToF is a technique utilized to measure the distance to and from a point of a real world entity.

Based on an interview with Shuhei Yoshida, Eurogamer, SCE President, he hinted that the Gran Turismo 7 will be optimized for PlayStation VR. This just shows that Sony is treating its virtual reality device as a console release.

Unfortunately, there are no details about the official pricing and release date of PlayStation VR yet. However, this state-of-the-art virtual reality headset will absolutely compete with its rivals fairly.
