Last Tuesday’s episode of "Scream Queens" showed viewers a different side of Chanel Oberlin and Gigi Caldwell. Apparently, the Kappa Kappa Tau president is not all glitz and glam – she’s also into kicking ass when her womanhood is being attacked. On Gigi’s front, it seems that she’s been carrying a ton of baggage from her past – a mystery which was seen in the final moments of “Haunted House”.
On its fourth week, "Scream Queens" delivered a woman-empowering scene featuring Emma Roberts’ Chanel and her loyal band of followers. “Chanel also led this week’s equivalent of the Dickie Dollar Scholars’ Backstreet Boys-soundtracked fight scene, in which she and her minions go to town on a couple of harassing frat boys, the Wall Street Journal wrote.
Later adding how the scene became even more entertaining to watch, “To the tune of Belinda Carlisle‘s “Mad About You,” the ladies execute a beautifully choreographed cafeteria beat-down of the bro dudes,” the publication commented.
Meanwhile, the horror-comedy unfolded a new layer to Nasim Pedrad’s quirky character, Gigi. As it turns out, she’s been hiding a very dark side to her that’s closely connected to what happened at the campus, circa 1990. “The final moments show us this: the "hag," rocking in her chair, and it's Gigi Caldwell (Nasim Pedrad). It confirms something I'd suspected since Kappa alum Gigi showed up in the season premiere saying she's been stuck in the '90s since "a traumatic incident," Pop Sugar wrote.
Moving forward, next week’s episode of Scream Queens will find Chanel strategizing for her political career in Kappa house. However, Dean Munsch will throw another curve ball to stop her.
As shared by The Futon Critic, “With Halloween just days away, Dean Munsch makes an announcement affecting the campus and, specifically, Chanel's plan to throw a pumpkin patch party in support of her Kappa Kappa Tau presidential campaign.”
The most recent outing of "Scream Queens" presented a fresh perspective on Emma Roberts’ character, while also unraveling a mysterious side to Nasim Pedrad’s Gigi. With these latest developments, it is palpable that Ryan Murphy and his team are onto the right path. Hopefully, the next episodes will continue to unearth more elements of mystery and intrigue among the Kappa Kappa Tau residents.
