‘Kingsman: The Secret Service 2’ Cast Updates: Colin Firth’s return teased; Taron Egerton’s ‘Robin Hood: Origins’ shooting delayed

'Kingsman: The Secret Service 2' breakout star Taron Egerton is also cast in the upcoming 'Robin Hood: Origins' film. The latter is forced to delay its planned shooting date to accommodate Egerton's schedule for the sequel of the spy action-comedy film on April 2016. Colin Firth's character may make a re-appearance in the second film.

According to IGN, the sequel begins principal photography in April 2016. The circumstance has forced the filming of 'Robin Hood: Origin' to be moved to a later date since Taron Egerton is slated to star in both films. Instead of recasting Egerton's role in 'Robin Hood', it was decided that production for the reboot will begin in the second half of 2016, in time for the end of filming for 'Kingsman: The Secret Service 2'.

Egerton rose to mainstream fame in 2015 for his role as Gary "Eggsy" Unwin in the first 'Kingsman' film. He played a stubborn protégé for Colin Firth's Harry Hart a.k.a. Galahad, a member a secret spy organization. Later in the film, Eggsy proved to be one of the finest recruits of the Kingsmen.

It was reported that only Egerton has confirmed involvement for the sequel. According to ScreenCrush, there hasn't been any official announcements regarding the return of original cast members Mark Strong as senior secret agent Merlin nor Sophie Cookson as Roxanne "Roxy" Merton a.k.a. Lancelot.

Another article by International Business Times suggested that Firth may have a surprise appearance in the follow-up film. His character Galahad was killed off by Samuel L. Jackson's antagonistic Valentine in the previous installment during a gruesome riot scene that involved mass hysteria leading to multiple murders. It was reported however, that original comic book writer Mark Millar admitted that they were trying to figure out how to bring Galahad back into the series.

Millar revealed that writers Matthew Vaughn and Jane Goldman, who are currently working on the screenplay, are tasked at figuring out the dilemma. He said, "That's the conversation everyone's having right now, because part of what made that movie work is Colin. Colin's fantastic, it was a two-hander, that film. You also want to have the integrity of the story, so if you are bringing him back, it has to make sense."

'Kingsman: The Secret Service 2' is a planned spy film based on the comic books created by Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar. Its predecessor received positive reviews from critics and earned a staggering $412 million against an $81 million budget, according to Box Office Mojo.
