When the Universal announced "The Mummy Reboot" movie, reports say the movie will follow the original plot story. However, it was confirmed recently that the film will have some major changes in the movie script.

The Hollywoord Reporter indicated that director Alex Kurtzman and Jon Spaihts, the scriptwriter, will make some evident changes in the movie franchise. First off, The Mummy may likely have a gender swapping from the original male mummy to a woman. Second, the studio will make the backstory distinct.

Moreover, MTV noted that the studio is searching for the appropriate stars for the role. While "The Mummy Reboot" movie will either star a female or male mummy, the decision will eventually turn out to which actor or actress amaze them most. However, these speculations remain uncertain at the moment.

Although the studio assured for a simple yet unique movie, Cinema Blend reported that they have an enormous plans for the future of the movie. The article stated that the studio aims to advance its co-dependent monster films which include Dracula, Frankenstein, the Bride of Frankenstein, Van Helsing and many more except the cast of Hotel Transylvania.

The original The Mummy movie was first released in 1932 following a remake in 1999. In these movies, the mummy was portrayed by Boris Karloff and Arnold Vosloo. So, if ever the studio plans to really change the gender of the mummy, this might be a different story.

The studio is still processing the casting while the film is slated for a 2017 release. According to Kurtzman, "The Mummy Reboot" movie will have a mixture of other genres while maintaining the horror ambience.
