"Outlander" is currently in the middle of the filming its second season and this time, a new character is going to shake things up but details on who will be portraying her are still at large.
Sony Pictures Television has confirmed that Jaime (played by Sam Heughan) and Claire's (portrayed by Caitriona Bailfe) daughter Brianna will be appearing in the follow up season of the critically acclaimed show.
Brianna's story though will be experiencing a major plot twist. Despite season two being hugely based on the second installment of the book series from which it was based from (Diana Gabaldon's Dragonfly in Amber), a huge chunk of the story revolving the said character will take inspiration from the other books, particularly the fourth book, "Drums of Autumn".
"Brianna has secretly followed her mother back in time to find the father she never met and the family she never knew," E! News Online reports. Brianna travelling back in time is indeed in tune with what happens as the story progresses, but it is until the fourth book that such event transpires.
To add more intrigue, Brianna will be introduced as Brianna Randall, carrying the surname of Claire's first husband Frank Randall (played by actor Tobias Menzies). Will this open to the possibility of Brianna not being Jaime's legitimate child and will her time travel lead her back to her real father? Such questions are bound to be answered in the upcoming episodes.
Despite the very interesting story surrounding Brianna, the actress who will be playing her is still unidentified. "Show bosses have yet to announce who will play the role of the 20-year-old redhead in the series," Scotland Now reports.
Furthermore, Christian Today reports that the show's producers are looking for an actress that "stands five feet eight inches or taller and someone's who's not girly yet is still vulnerable and inexperienced." Rounds of casting calls are currently being conducted in search for the person who will fit the role but no particular actress has emerged as the show's final choice as of now.
"Outlander" Season 2 is filming at Scotland and is scheduled to premiere next year on Starz.
