Apple will be launching its new chip system, Intel 7360 LTE modem, to its upcoming products. This is in addition to the company's standard Qualcomm 9X45 LTE chip. In this regard, Intel and Apple are working for a team of 1,000 employees to put the innovation together to complete the project.

According to Venturebeat, the new modem is believed to be introduced in at least some of iPhones beginning 2016. The team dealing with this innovation is expected to receive the shipment of the new modem by the end of the year. As such, the new chip is projected to be available in the new iPhone 7 next year.

Related report also said that Apple may dual-source the LTE modems from both Intel and Qualcomm. More so, Apple is planning to create a system-on-a-chip (SOC) that includes Ax processor and LTE modem chip. As a result, this may bring improvement to speed and better power management of the upcoming iPhones. The report added that Intel bought CDMA modem of Via Telecom to add the CDMA network connectivity in its LTE modems.

However, Apple and Intel have not signed to any contracts yet, Macrumors reported. Though, Intel CEO Brian Krzanich confirmed that the new 7360 LTE modem will start to ship for new products, Digital Times noted. Venturebeat also mentioned that Apple engineers have been working with Intel engineers for the new project. The report commented that such collaboration between the two companies is a must-win for Intel. On the other hand, the new LTE chip that will be incorporated to new iPhones can hopefully be offered at a low cost in the market shelves.

The new project of Apple with Intel can provide more features to its new products that can attract more customers in the future. At the moment, Apple has no official statement regarding its new project. Nonetheless, it is expected that the new chip will be incorporated to iPhone 7 in 2016.
