'The Flash' Season 2 Update: A new love interest for Barry, family drama for Iris and more

By

"The Flash" delved into romantic and family angles on its second week, giving Barry as new potential love interest while also plotting some family drama for Iris. As the DC comics adaptation moves forward, viewers should expect for these minor arcs to be explored. The episode titled “Flash of Two Worlds” aired last Oct. 13th on the CW.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, “Flash of Two Worlds” allowed fans to meet DC comics character Patty Spivot, a woman who is hell bent on getting Joe’s approval to be part of his metahuman task force. What’s more, not only did she reached her goal by episode’s end, she also managed to become a potential love interest for Grant Gustin’s speedster.

"We wanted to make her this very strong, hardcore female cop who has a clear purpose," executive producer Todd Helbing said of Shantel VanSanten’s character. "She's someone that is in this for the right reasons, hell-bent on stopping Mardon and metahumans, and someone who could feel like she's a part of the metahuman task force and hold her own," the showrunner explained.

Elsewhere, the West family drama intensified as Momma West finally landed to Central City. "Desperate Housewives" alum Vanessa Williams checked in for the role.

“She came back to see her daughter and reestablish this family that she once had. Iris obviously has this conception about her mother and her being away from her her whole life. I’m sure you can imagine that learning that is not the case could turn your whole world upside down. That’s the jumping off point she’s going to be struggling with.” Helbing previewed in a report from Entertainment Weekly.

In other developments, Cisco’s powers are beginning to draw some negative effects on him.
“Cisco is currently paranoid that Wells has done something terrible to him, and that fear will continue to weigh on him this season,” Variety cited in a report.

Should this problem for Cisco continue, it is going to be worrisome for the fans to watch him keeping his secret from Team Flash. Rest assured, they will be supporting him no matter the cost.

The Flash airs every Tuesday at 8PM on the CW.
