Mass Effect 4 Updates: Developer Make Up For Shepard’s Non-Appearance, Game to Feature New Story, Style, Improved ‘Mako’

By

EA have already announced through a press conference in the recent Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2015 that Mass Effect: Andromeda or Mass Effect 4 will be released by next year. While developers are pretty much aware of the seemingly fan dismay due to the fact that Commander Shepard will no longer be part of Mass Effect 4, they made up for it through an in-engine look in its new location, characters, aliens and gameplay in a trailer it has unveiled in the E3.

The game's storyline would focus on a fresh protagonist, according to BioWare. Gamers would also be exposed to an entirely new region, as sidestep from Mass Effect 3's ending, which would offer a fresh start to fans, given their disappointment to past environments. Eurogamer also reports that two new alien species shall be featured and the impressive environment was also displayed in concept arts at E3. Yannick Roy of BioWare Montreal also added that the game is also open for an option for romance and a possibility to feature same sex relationships as a sign of the game's commitment to biodiversity.

Fans in their reviews have also been commenting on how "nice" the game looks, referring to its physical based rendering. It was also hinted that Mass Effect 4 could possibly use DX12 technology from a Twitter discussion, Gaming Bolt reported. According to John Andersson, all games that use the Frostbite engine will also use PBR technology. Another statement from Stefan Boberg says that DX12 is already part of the Frostbite engine; however, what game to use it first still remains unknown. Inferring from those two statements, fans think it's not impossible that they were referring to Mass Effect 4.

Another impressive addition to Mass Effect 4 is their commitment to gamer personality. Acccording to Crossmap, BioWare Creative Director Mac Walters said that they want to bring back the same wonder and sense of exploration felt by gamers in the first three installments, and it may be the vehicle Mako that would bring such wonder. Chris Wynn assured that with the new and improved Mako that would be made customizable to fit gamer personality, Mass Effect 4 would not be that much "disconnected" from the other three despite the absence of Commander Shepard.

With the story made fresh, graphics improved, and Mass Effect 4's connection to the first three games assured, EA and BioWare's Mass Effect 4 shall be out to the stores at "Holiday 2016" for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
