StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void Massive 5GB Patch Downloadable Now for ALL Players; Blizzard Title's Trilogy Ends with Final Expansion on Nov. 10

StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void release date is closing in with less than a month from now and the saga which first began in the 1998 will ultimately come to an end. Prior to its release, a very large patch is now available for download containing data for the game's final expansion.

According to Blizzard's official blog for StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void, the said download can be obtained via the Battle.net desktop app for those who have StarCraft 2 installed on their PC. The download will be available for everyone including those have not pre-purchased the Legacy of the Void. The blog also stated that players will notice that the app will just start downloading the patch.

The purpose of this download is to make it as easy as possible for the players that they can start playing the game as soon as possible when it is launched. This is how it works, as explained via official blog from Blizzard:

The download will be around 5GB in size and include things like models, textures, art files, and other upcoming Legacy of the Void content that is already complete. By making this data available early, you'll have less to download once Legacy of the Void is released.

The background download is encrypted and won't make any changes to the live game or Battle.net service until Legacy of the Void is released. In the meantime, you will be able to play StarCraft 2 as normal and your in-game experience should remain unaffected by the download.

The desktop app will continue downloading the game as long as it is open and as long there are no other games running. The Legacy of the Void download can also be paused or resumed manually.

While waiting for the launch, fans can get a taste of the final part of the StarCraft 2 Trilogy with Whispers of Oblivion. This is a special three-mission prologue created to bridge the story between Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void.

This comes free to everyone with the new patch 3.0 available for download. Those who want to play the prologue missions should just go to Battle.net and just follow the instructions, notes PC World. After that, all the missions can already be played right away!

When StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void will come out on November 10 for PC and Mac, it comes in a Standard Edition, Digital Deluxe Edition, and Collector's Edition.
