Bloodborne is a Gothic-inspired role playing game will be releasing its first expansion, The Old Hunters. Said expansion features new monsters to take down, new environments to explore, new weapons to wield, and new revelations to discover.
The game takes place in the city of Yharnam, infected with a blood-borne disease which turned its inhabitants into beasts. The player takes control of Hunter whose task is to investigate the source of the plague. He navigates through the city streets as he battles against monstrous creatures while unraveling the secrets of the city. By only September of this year, this Gothic RPG had already sold 2 million copies. During the 2015 Tokyo Game Show, Sony has announced the release of the game's first major expansion pack, The Old Hunters, which is on November 24, according to Ecumenical News.
Being regarded by Sony early on as its Game of the Year, it shall be releasing its special package, containing the original game and its expansion, The Old Hunters. Such special package was tagged as Game of the Year Edition. Polygon reports that The Old Hunters was originally meant to be contained in two DLC packs with new weapons and environment. As for the storyline, Sony informs that The Old Hunters is set in a nightmarish environment wherein past hunters have been trapped. New dangerous situations and hideous new beasts are to be expected from the expansion pack, as well as the new boss enemy named Ludwig. Another important feature is that details about Yharnam's past shall be revealed, and a new discovery regarding another side of the world of Bloodborne.
In a review by Moviepilot, one of the comments is that Bloodborne outshined The Witcher 3, Batman: Arkham Knight, and even Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Plain in terms of accomplishments. Bloodborne did a great job on the foundations of the Souls series, taking the combat basics, exploration, and difficulty and converted them into a Gothic setting, stained with blood.
Despite the fact that its Game of the Year Edition's special package contains only two inclusions, Sony and From Software's Bloodborne is a much awaited game to fans, given its impressive storyline, mystery, Gothic theme, and bloodshed and gore.
