Come January 24th, FOX’s six-episode revival of "The X-Files" will finally get launched. To promote the mini event series, the network has released a new promo and keyart to pique the interest of longtime fans. In other news, series creator Chris Carter has revealed that the series was intended to run with a total of seven episodes.
As seen on the promo shared by Collider, the 30-second clip asks the ominous question of “What if everything is a lie?” According to the site, this mystery will be delved heavily in the new bunch of episodes. “From what we’ve heard so far about the highly secretive new episodes is that they will have a hearty mix of a bigger governmental paranoia arc and smaller cases, which proved a winning combination in the original series’ first four seasons”.
FOX also unveiled the first official keyart of the reboot. According to Movieweb, the latest poster teases the return of CGB Spender aka The Cigarette Smoking Man. The character was played by actor William B. Davis.
In other developments, "The X-Files" series creator Chris Carter has confirmed in a report from TV Line that they intended to write the revival as a 7-episode mini event series. However, scheduling conflicts hindered this from happening.
It was almost about to happen. We were planning for it. The script was written. I even called people to find out if they were available to direct, and it just didn’t happen. I created an opportunity for two writers that I am close with to write a spec script. If there are more X-Files to be made, certainly it will be one of those,” the showrunner revealed.
"The X-Files" premieres with a special two-night event starting Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016 (10:00-11:00 PM ET/7:00-8:00 PM PT), after the NFC Championship Game, and continuing with its time period premiere on Monday, Jan. 25 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT).
