'Game of Thrones' Season 6 Spoilers: The Blackfish returning for Siege of Riverrun arc?

By

The latest casting additions on "Game of Thrones" season six strongly point out that the series will tackle the Siege of Riverrun arc. Weeks ago, the HBO smash has enlisted actors Clive Russell and Tobias Menzies to return for its new bunch of episodes. Speculations hint that the TV version will use this season as a conduit to go back to George RR Martin’s A Fear for Crows.

The casting of the Tullys in season 6 is no joke. The Independent reported that Thrones has already started filming sequences for their storylines.

“Well, it definitely looks like we’re going to be seeing a lot more of House Tully in Game of Thrones season 6, with a vast Riverrun set having been built, Brynden 'The Blackfish' Tully being confirmed for a return and now Edmure Tully actor Tobias Menzies being spotted on set by Watchers on the Wall”.

Additionally, sightings of Brynden on the set were confirmed.

“Last week we learnt that Catelyn’s uncle Brynden will be back too, likely filming the Siege of Riverrun from the books.”

The Huffington Post laid out a pretty strong theory about this new development in a report, citing that the addition of Russell will procure a standalone conclusion from Martin’s A Feast for Crows.
“As far as we know, Blackfish escaped the Red Wedding in Season 3, but we haven't really heard from him since. Reports indicate Tully will be defending Riverrun from a Lannister siege, which will include Jaime Lannister and Bronn,” the publication wrote.

Later continuing, “This is pretty significant news since the siege storyline is a big part of George R.R. Martin's novel A Feast for Crows and was completely ignored in Season 5”.

Meanwhile, Tobias Menzies’s character also allowed for some thoughtful speculations in a report from iDigital Times.

“The reveal of Edmure Tully for Game of Thrones Season 6, combined with the presence of cast members Gwendoline Christie and Clive Russell in Game of Thrones Season 6 could signal big spoilers for the fate of House Frey, who orchestrated the Red Wedding on the behalf of the Lannisters in Game of Thrones Season 3”.

It’s no secret that Game of Thrones doesn’t exactly follow the directions of George R.R. Martin’s novels. While the aforementioned arcs are yet to be proved, fans can still look forward to something that Thrones do best: award-winning scenes mastered by the cast and its showrunners.

‘Game of Thrones’ season 6 premiere is yet to be announced.
