This week on "The Big Bang Theory", the gang will face a shortage of helium pushing Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) embarking on an unusual way to solve their problem. In other developments, the CBS smash has added Analeigh Tipton and Stephen Merchant to its growing list of guest stars this fall. The episode is titled “The Helium Insufficiency”.
As revealed in the official description of the Oct. 26th installment, "Big Bang" plotted a nation-wide helium shortage for Sheldon and co., forcing him and Lenny take desperate measures to procure the diminishing supplies. According to the International Business Times, this storyline was highlighted in the promo, where viewers will find the duo talking to a shady guy who apparently knows his way to get enough helium.
To make it more interesting, Sheldon even gave himself the monicker of “Skippy” to introduce himself as another dude who is just shady as the helium guy.
In the same hour, viewers will get to know two new characters in the form of Stephen Merchant (The Office) and Analeigh Tipton (America’s Next Top Model).
According to Entertainment Weekly who learned the casting news, details on their roles are being kept under wraps. But it is been highly-rumored that they will be both connected to Sheldon and Amy (Mayim Bialik) as they pursue the dating world in the new bunch of episodes.
To this end, viewers should find for some unique scenes among the new characters involved together with the gang. It is only a matter of time before the Chuck Lorre-produced comedy uncork another surprising turn for the former lovers.
"The Big Bang Theory" co-executive producer Steve Molaro addressed this upcoming arc for Shamy in a report from The Hollywood Reporter, allowing that Shamy’s experimental period give both characters a time to uncover new layers of themselves.
“Right now, the dynamic has been fascinating and interesting. We're seeing all new colors for both of them as well as the way it impacts the group. There's not a set plan — we're feeling this out along in same way Amy is," Molaro said.
Catch ex-couple Sheldon and Amy and their new romantic partners in the upcoming episode of "The Big Bang Theory" Season 9. The show airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on CBS and will return to Thursdays after football.
