'Castle' Season 8 Update: Show Might Be Cancelled Due To Low Ratings, Episode 6 Will Not Air This Monday

By

"Castle" Season 8 is reportedly going to be cancelled as the show is suffering from low ratings. It has also been reported that a replay of episode 5 will be aired instead of episode 6 tonight.

In a report by Design & Trend, the show's fifth episode drew a 1.1 rating among adult audiences aged 18 to 49. In the past weeks, the show has just received a 1.2 rating which coincidentally was the highest for the season. Compared to season 7, "Castle" received an average of 1.6 while Season 6 received a 1.9 rating.

According to the publication, the series might have not fared well in terms of ratings as the fans were not happy that Rick Castle and Kate Beckett took a break in their relationship. A fan reportedly tweeted, "I have enjoyed this show corny as it can be for 7 years and so far the decision to split up the couple seems to be a disaster. I find myself going through the motions of watching but not enjoying. Why the showrunners did this is a mystery to me."

It has also been reported by Carter Matt that "Castle" episode 6 will not be airing this Monday and instead, a repeat of the previous episode will be aired. Episode 5 is entitled "Once Upon a Time in the West" and it features Castle and Beckett during happier times and were still married. An announcement has been made that the sixth episode will be aired on November 9.

Christian Post also shared in the upcoming episode entitled "Cool Boys" in which Adam Baldwin will reprise his role in the show as Det. Ethan Slaughter. Fans last saw him in the fourth season where he worked alongside Castle.

"Castle" season 8 might be cancelled due to its low ratings. The sixth episode of the show will also be aired on November 9 instead of tonight. The show airs Mondays at 10 P.M. on ABC.
