'Naruto Gaiden: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring' is set to be released on January 2016. It is a sequel mini-series to the original franchise that will feature Sasuke and Sakura Uchiha's daughter Sarada. It is intended as a prelude for the recently released cinematic feature 'Boruto: Naruto the Movie'.
According to iDigital Times, several Naruto spin-off stories are ready to be printed following the concluding volume of the original Naruto manga series. 'Naruto Gaiden: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring' is the first of the spin-off stories and will center on Sasuke and Sakura's daughter Sarada as well as her comrade Boruto, Naruto's own son. The printed version will be available on January next year.
Another article from the Anime News Network stated that creator Masashi Kishimoto launched the spin-off series in the Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump last April 27. It was then announced that the 10 chapter manga would finally conclude on July 6.
The spin-off series is set 15 years after the last chapter of the original Naruto series and is intended to be a prequel to the recently released 'Boruto: Naruto the Movie'. An excerpt from the manga's official synopsis reads, "...Now Naruto has achieved his dream to become the greatest ninja in the village and his face sits atop the Hokage monument. But new troubles are bubbling up in the shinobi world..." It also adds that Sasuke uncovers a conspiracy attached to the members of the Uchiha clan with Sarada doubting the truth of her origins.
The follow-up to the series has been available digitally since October 6th of this year, according to Crunchyroll. Viz Media LLC also brought together a couple of new merchandise that they made accessible to the public at the 2015 New York Comic Con. It was also reported that people who purchase any digital bundle of the Naruto manga in October via VizManga platform or the Naruto App will receive a digital gift containing a pilot chapter, editorial commentary, reviews and a fan art gallery.
'Naruto Gaiden: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring' is a spin-off series dedicated to follow the events 15 years after the original Naruto series. It is scheduled to be released in print in January 2016.
