'Metal Gear Solid 5' Update: Sixth Installment Already In Talks Following Game's 5 Million Units Shipping Record

By

It seems that "Metal Gear Solid 5" remains to be as strong as ever as it continues to gain a huge success. In fact, the game has recently reached the mark of selling 5 million copies worldwide. Hence, Konami is reportedly on the loop of discussing the next installment, "Metal Gear Solid 6".

According to The BitBag, the fifth and latest "Metal Gear" installment, "The Phantom Pain," is selling more even after its initial release two months ago. The latest report of Konami's earning showed improvement on both sales and profit. It reportedly has amassed a figure of $894 million in net sales, a nine percent increase compared from last year's $819 million.

With the promising success of "Metal Gear Solid 5," the arcade game company Konami is leaning towards a plan on how to develop "Metal Gear Solid 6," as reported by Express. Nevertheless, the iconic director behind the series, Hideo Kojima, is believed to have not committed yet in involving in another project. Rumors have it, however, that the company would either continue developing triple-A titles or just its focus on different areas of the gaming industry throughout this year.

IGN noted that despite Konami's denial on the circulating rumors, an unnamed representative from the company said, "When we start development, a large-scale investment will become necessary." Nevertheless, the "Metal Gear" mastermind Kojima is believed to have left Konami; though the company claims that he's simply on vacation.

Regardless of whether or not Kojima will move forward with another "Metal Gear" project, reports clearly show that Konami has every desire of moving forward with the series. In fact, community manager Graham Day reportedly suggested that the series can certainly continue with or without its creator.

If the sixth installment is to be true, then "Metal Gear" fans certainly have something to look forward to again. In the meantime, Konami is without doubt in a pool of celebration thanks to its "Meta Gear Solid 5."

Do you think they can pull off another "Metal Gear" game without Hideo Kojima? Let us know at the comments below.
