‘Aquaman’Update: Jason Momoa gets intimate with his character through 'New 52 Aquaman’

"Aquaman" fans aren't the only ones brushing up on their comic books since DC confirmed that the King of the seven seas is about to get a solo movie; Jason Momoa, who was given the role, has also been doing his homework on this DC hero.

Momoa, who will also be seen as the same character in the upcoming "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" (2016), is getting pretty pumped up for the role. The film is going to be under the direction of "Furious 7" director James Wan, and although it is still set to release in 2018, Momoa has been diving through the pages of the 'New 52 Aquaman' comics in search of inspiration; he revealed during Dallas Comic-Con according to Yibada

According to the Movie Pilot, Momoa expressed his fascination with the character, and says that the comics had laid out a map of the character for him. He also mentioned how much he admired Aquaman's strength and powers; and how he becomes relatable to both Atlantians and humans, who have not been on each other's good side. The 'New 52 Aquaman' particularly colors the hero as a bad-ass, much to Momoa's delight. His rage, springing from the pollution of his kingdom, seemed to have brought the actor into terms with his character.

So does this mean that the fans would be expecting an exact replica of The New 52 Aquaman on screen? As previously reported, Momoa says that he will be bringing a personal spin on the character. He says that the fans should keep an open mind with regards to how he will be portraying the King of the Throne of Atlantis; although, he did say that the production team will be sticking to oranges and greens in honor of the classic Aquaman look.

What becomes of the characters on screen rests largely on how the actors perceive the characters. Putting depth and color in the portrayal of these heroes, makes for a great contribution to the DC extended universe.

Fans are seeing DC comics throw off a lot of potential spin-offs, and some, like "Aquaman" are already spinning their way to the silver screen. With actors being eyed on for certain roles, fans will just have to wait and see how much homework these guys are willing to do, and if they'd be seeing a fresh perspective on these characters.
