But whether or not he ends up starring in the previously mentioned DC movies, Jason Momoa has been slated to star in Aquaman's stand alone film for the titular role, which is set to hit theaters in 2018. The upcoming film is still in the works, however, it seems like Momoa's casting for the role holds promising future for the character. According to Movie Pilot, Momoa's muscular physique and very manly badass image will help in giving the character a gritty and darker side that will be consistent to DCCU's dark tone to its movies as seen in the trailer of Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman. Momoa's performance for the role is expected to be far from the traditional Aquaman who is portrayed in the comics wearing the orange and green costume.
