Sony Xperia Z5's Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update in the Works

By

The Xperia Z5 is Sony's most current poster-phone, so many of Sony's users are looking forward to see that handset get first dibs on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update that every Android user is talking about.

The Z5 currently runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, but an update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware is due anytime in the next couple of weeks, says Android Pit. It is most likely that Sony is already developing the company's version of the firmware.

A recent leak has also implied that the OEM is working on improving the handheld's stamina mode which will increase the battery life of the device. Users are interested to see how that, plus Android 6.0's most awaited Doze feature, will work together to significantly extend the battery's lifetime. A report by International Business Times states that they are looking at a 400 percent boost with Android 6.0 Marshmallow on board.

Sony has not released any official statements on when the Xperia Z5 will be receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, but speculations are that the users will not be seeing it until early next year.
