Deep Silver announced that Dead Island 2 will not be coming this year but in 2016 with no specific date yet. To soften the blow of the bad news, developer shares gameplay, describe locations and other features of the Dead Island series.
Despite the delayed in the availability of Dead Island 2, Deep Silver has given fans a chance to look at the inside feel of the game. Game Developer choose setting with iconic landmarks, Movie Pilot reported. The game is set in California with the feature iconic landmark like Hollywood sign, the Santa Monica Pier, the beaches of Los Angeles and numerous places within San Francisco.
The site also mentioned that Dead Island 2 will include four playable characters, namely: Ryan (Berserker) a former volunteer firefighter; Ashlee (Huntress) a former teacher and party girl; John (Bishop) a preacher; and Dani (Speeder) a stuntwoman. These special humans are apparently resistant to the zombie plague encompassing the state.
As of the fight, Movie Pilot stated that the melee attacks are as ruthless as the first series. However, the gunplay mechanics appear much improved.
The much developed gameplay soften the disappointment of the bad news of instead releasing the game this year, it will be pushed back to 2016. However, there is no detailed date yet as Cross Map cited the Instagram post of the developer.
Another kick in the teeth was the decision of Deep Silver to part ways with Yager Development, recalled Game Spot.

"After careful consideration, today we announce the decision to part ways with development partner Yager," it said at the time. "With Dead Island 2, Deep Silver has always been dedicated to delivering the sequel that Dead Island fans deserve. We will continue working towards bringing our vision of Dead Island 2 to life, and we will share further information at a later stage."
