The first installment of the Justice League franchise is set to come out but rumor has it the script is problematic. Even so, there has been confirmation of a DC Cinematic Universe in the works and that the Justice League may indeed be a trilogy.
Though the movie has been confirmed, Crossmap reports that there have been some issues with the script. It seems that non-comic book fans may find a hard time appreciating the storyline. If this is the case, then there is that danger of "Justice League" being niche movie. Those who have seen the script thinks it is far too long, complicated and dark.
A dark theme however is what should be expected from DC movies. Thus far, all movie adaptations under Roven's production have a dark theme to it. Case in point Chris Nolan's "Batman" Trilogy as well as the latest installment of Superman. Perhaps this is what should be expected from the DC Cinematic Universe.
In an interview with Collider, Atlas Entertainment President Charles Roven, who has produced most DC adaptation movies, confirmed that the DC Cinematic Universe is indeed happening and that the upcoming DC movies are interconnected. The brain trust is composed of him, Warner Bros Executive VP John Berg, Zack and Deborah Snyder, and the Chief Creative Officer of DC Comics Geoff Johns.
Roven states that unlike the Marvel Cinematic Universe, their approach is not going to be linear, with each character starring in his or her own film before Justice League gets formed. Yes there will be origin stories but characters like the Flash, Aquaman and Shazam will have movies after the league is formed.
So far, what has been confirmed is that after Batman V Superman, Wonder Woman is going to come out in 2017. After which is "Justice League Part One" will be out. Is a Justice League trilogy then confirmed?
According to a report from Movie News Guide, Zack Snyder indeed has enough material for three 2.5 hour movies. Warner Bros. however feel the acclaimed director may not have enough time in his hands to direct all three. After all, this will be a long commitment much like Peter Jackson with his two Tolkien trilogies.
DC fans should stay excited as the DC Cinematic Universe is well on its way into realization. Despite rumors about the script, Justice League Part One is set to hit the theaters on Nov 17, 2017.
