'Thor: Ragnarok' is an upcoming adventure-fantasy film helmed by Taika Waititi. Producition will begin in Queensland, Australia sometime in June 2016. Leading man Chris Hemsworth expressed his enthusiasm over returning to his home country for filming.
According to Comic Book, Marvel Studios confirmed that production for the third installment in the 'Thor' series is set to begin in Australia by the middle of next year. Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said, "This is a huge win for Queensland and I am thrilled that Thor will be filming exclusively in our state... The production will spend more than $100 million AUD in Queensland and will employ over 750 Queensland crew." Marvel's co-president Louis D'Esposito explained that they chose Queensland for its "amazing and diverse backdrop".
Although the exact date for pre-production and principal photography has not yet been confirmed, producer and Marvel president Kevin Feige claimed that filming will begin sometime in June 2016 under the latest chosen director Taika Waititi. The shoot comes in time for the film's scheduled release of November 23, 2017.
Chris Hemsworth, who plays the titular god of thunder, expressed his delight at the news. He said that he was "incredibly excited to be coming back home to work," during a video message, according to Variety. The Australian actor was born in Melbourne as well as raised in the Australian Outback in Bulman, North Territory.
According to Movie Pilot, Jaimie Alexander and Tom Hiddleston will be joining Hemsworth on-screen once more as Lady Sif and Thor's villainous half-brother Loki respectively. It has been confirmed that Mark Ruffalo's Hulk will be making an appearance. It remains unknown whether Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman or Idris Elba will be reprising their roles for 'Thor: Ragnarok'.
'Thor: Ragnarok' is an upcoming action-fantasy film scheduled to be released in the USA on November 3, 2017. It is directed by Taika Waititi of 'Boy' and 'Two Cars, One Night' fame. The first two films in the trilogy earned a collective $1 billion in sales at the box office.
