The recent remaster of Darksiders 2 by is a way to measure the players' interest in Darksiders 3. This is a welcome move demonstrated by the game publisher to warm up many Darksiders fans.
Nordic Games, the publisher that acquired the property of Darksiders after THQ got bankrupt, has been planning for a third entry release in the series according to Game Spot. Posting on Steam discussion board of Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition, the executive producer of Nordic Games teased that the high-definition remaster was "just the start."
He also said that, "Since we acquired the franchise we were looking for options for doing a Darksiders 3. The remaster was just a way to get some spotlight on the franchise again, reactivate the community and have a better starting position for Darksiders 3."
Nordic Games have previously announced its plan to consider a port of the original 2010 Darksiders among the new consoles, prior to a full-scale development effort on Darksiders 3.
They said that it is very important for them to take care of all the current games and make them available to a larger audience.
"Bringing Darksiders 2 to current gen was a logical step for us and the team at Gunfire Games know their trade inside-out, so we easily and quickly had lots of ideas that we wanted to realize for this specific edition," said Nordic Games in a statement.
Lazygamer also believe that the re-release of Darksiders II is indeed a way of the game's new developers to be more intimate and familiarized with the series. Furthermore, it will gauge interest in a possible sequel.
There maybe technical issues reported during the first launch of Darksiders 2, the game still received a good review when it was released in 2012, said PC Gamer.
Many diehard fans did not the Darksiders game. Now that Darksiders 2 remaster has been released, some gamers seem to show interest in pushing Darksiders 3.
