Windows 10 Update Bugs and Fixes

By

The release of Microsoft's latest Windows 10 update, version 1511 or more popularly known as 'Threshold 2', has brought in positive changes and great updates to its features. Unfortunately, the update is still plagued with bugs and problems.

The Verge reports that the new Windows 10 operating system version has gotten 'far less tedious' by reconizing any activation key from prior versions and grant users an install of Windows 10 with ease. This has reportedly made the activation process a whole lot easier than the previous versions.

However, the operating system update still comes with a very familiar wave of bugs and errors. One issue found is that while installing the Windows 10 update, it gets stuck when progress reaches 44%, according to InfoWorld. This glitch happens when an SD bus is inserted while installing the update, and it can be solved by removing the SD card.

Another problem determined by Forbes is that Threshold 2 deletes a number of installed programs as it updates the system. Luckily, the software reports of any uninstalled programs can be later reinstalled, but this can prove to be a big headache for Insiders who no longer have drivers and installers for their programs.

On top of this issue, Threshold 2 also changes some default app choices back to Microsoft's preferences. This can be fixed by heading over to System > Default Apps and determining the apps that you prefer. Microsoft has been known to do this before.

The final nasty surprise comes directly from Microsoft's Update FAQ directly, where it states that users who have updated their systems less than 31 days ago will have to wait for a month until they can get Threshold 2.

Windows 10 will be seeing more updates before the year ends and although the operating system does come with some glitches, it also comes with some promising and positive updates, such as a more powerful Cortana, a 'Find My Device' function and updates to the Skype application.
