This week’s episode of "The Big Bang Theory" will mark a new progress on Sheldon and Amy’s relationship after their recent breakup. The sitcom’s Thanksgiving episode titled “The Platonic Permutation” is slated to air on Nov. 19th. Meanwhile, Bob Newhart has been reported to return this season as Arthur Jeffries.
In the past weeks, viewers saw Sheldon and Amy explore their single statuses by seeing other people – a storyline that allowed for some hidden feelings to be revealed. As the couple moves on from their past, The Big Bang Theory will now offer Shamy fans an interesting arc on its Thanksgiving episode. Can the two just hang out as friends from now on? We’ll have to wait and see.
What we know so far is that Sheldon and Amy will be hanging out as friends at the aquarium on “The Platonic Permutation”. However, it is yet to be known as to whether lingering feelings between the two will be explored. The Futon Critic has shared the episode description.
Elsewhere, a soup-kitchen setting will be featured on the same half-hour episode. There, viewers will find a reluctant Wolowitz volunteering together with Bernadette, Raj and Emily.
In other Big Bang news, veteran actor Bob Newhart has been reported to reprise his role as Sheldon’s childhood idol, Arthur Jeffries, this season. His episode is slated to air in Dec. 17.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Newhart will appear in a dream sequence of Sheldon as a “ghostly Jedi apparition”. On the scene, he will be seen offering Sheldon some life advice which can help with the eccentric scientist’s decision making.
No word yet on whether this will be about Sheldon’s feelings towards his rather unsuccessful plan to propose to Amy.
Newhart made his Big Bang debut in the show's sixth season last 2013 and made two appearances in season seven, Variety reports. His first appearance scored him an Emmy award.
