Despite Robert Downey Jr.'s statement that he is not going to do another "Iron Man" movie, fans of Tony Stark have renewed hopes as there have been reports that "Iron Man 4" will be out on 2020. There are also speculations that the movie might push through even without Robert Downey Jr. himself.
He already said in a previous interview that he will not be doing another solo "Iron Man" movie. Robert Downey Jr. said he will reprise his role as Tony Stark but in other projects. Even though with a public statement this crystal clear, the online community cannot be stopped with its theories and speculations about the fate of the franchise.
According to Yibada, there is a possibility that Iron Man 4 will come out May of 2020. This is not just a wild guess though and the theory deserves a keen analysis.
Right now, the MCU is entering phase 3 with most of the stand-alone films reaching their 3rd installment going to the culmination which is the 3rd "Avengers" movie, "Infinity War Part 1". With an unbreakable record every may, movies have been lined up from 2016 to 2019 starting with "Captain America: Civil War" next year, "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" on 2017, and the "Infinity Wars" on 2018 and 2019 respectively. As a business, Marvel will definitely need a money maker for 2020. And among all of the franchises, it seems only Iron Man can step up to the challenge.
What about Robert Downey Jr.'s statement that he is not going to do another solo "Iron Man" movie? There have been speculations that it all boils down to the budget and it is either the producers are being stingy or the actor's salary demand is pretty sky high. According to International Business Times, his salary in "Avengers: Age of Ultron" was at $40 million. This is not even a solo movie.
These theories and speculations bring about more speculations. In a report by Movie News Guide, a movie may indeed materialize in 2020 but it may not necessarily star Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark. What's interesting about this theory is that Ty Simpkins, the kid who played Harley Keener in "Iron Man 3" will be replacing the highest paid actor in Hollywood as Iron Man. The kid is currently 14 and if he is going to be Iron Man then fans will see a teenage "Iron Man" who might be taking the same classes as Peter Parker.
Fans can hope all they want because who knows, in an interesting turn of events, Robert Downey Jr agrees to make another Iron Man movie. It takes 2 years to make one so if Marvel does not need it until 2020, then the famous actor has until 2018 to decide. Until now, there are no official announcements yet for "Iron Man 4".
