A lot of smartphone makers have delivered the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update to its handsets as a preparation for Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Samsung is one of those who recently released the Lollipop update to Samsung Galaxy S5 Active, Galaxy E7, Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 3.

Yibada stated on its report that as of the moment the Galaxy S5 Active users from AT&T are obtaining the over-the-air update of the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system. This upgrade weighs in at 640MB and has a build number of MY47X.G870AUCU2COJ3. The new Lollipop update brings many bug fixes for the S5 Active along with a new feature that is known as Android for Work.

The Samsung Galaxy E7 in Sri Lanka and India is already upgradable to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop as well. It is also worth knowing that the release of an Android version in particular regions normally symbolizes that the forthcoming release to other regions are in the works.

Moreover, Samsung Galaxy S3 can now be updated also to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, but it would be via custom ROM installation using Dirty Unicorn firmware.

The Galaxy Note 3 Neo is also scheduled to receive the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware. The Lollipop upgrade is now being distributed in South Korea where owners can download it over-the-air or through Samsung KIES for units with model numbers SM-N750S, SM-N750L and SM-N750K. The update is slated to berolled out throughout the world in the next few weeks.

The Chinatopix cited some of the features and enhancements that the Android 5.1.1Lollipop will bring to the aforementioned devices. This upgrade will fix the Stage Fright vulnerability and it will also bring support for 4G LTE data connection service. It will also enhance the finger print scanner and support USB Type-C connection.

As noted by Gospel Herald, version 5.1.1 Lollipop is the Google's last major iteration for the mobile operating system before it launched the current Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Some of the first mobile devices to receive the Android 5.1.1 OS is the Nexus range and the Motorola's devices.

The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update might be an indication that the Galaxy S5 Active, Galaxy E7 and Galaxy Note 3 Neo might be the next ones to get Android M. But the Galaxy S3 seems to be the unfortunate one as the Lollipop update will be only made available via custom ROM.
