'Deadpool' is a planned superhero film intended as an addition to the 'X-Men' cinematic series. Wade Wilson a.k.a. the Merc with a Mouth is set to invade Christmas season with a brand new 3D theater standee to be released in various locations across the U.S., U.K., Canada and Australia. Ryan Reynolds' character is confirmed as "pansexual".
Marvel's infamous merc with a mouth is set to invade theaters for Christmas with a brand new 3D standee. According to Comic Book, 20th Century Fox has just revealed a Christmas-themed Deadpool standee to be used as promotional material in theaters in time for its scheduled release in February 2016. 1500 standees will be released across select locations in the United States, Canada as well as in Australia and the United Kingdom.
It was revealed by IGN that the standee is 68" wide X 30" deep X 102" tall. The life-sized 3D cardboard cutout of the mischievous anti-hero apparently urges passersby to sit on his lap in the truest holiday sense. The standees are set to arrive in cinemas just in time for Thanksgiving.
Meanwhile, director Tim Miller confirmed that Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool will be the first ever "pansexual" superhero the world will lay its eyes on. According to The Guardian, Miller admitted that the hypersexualized version of the masked mercenary in the comic books will remain consistent in the live-action adaptation as well.
Reynolds admitted that the studio's lack of censorship left him amazed. He said, "You kinda think you have moments when you're shooting where you think: 'This is, uh, a little excessive. This is a comic book movie. Are we gonna get away with this?' But so far, so good." It was previously revealed that the film will come with a hard R-rating for excessive violence, expletives and sexuality.
In the comic books, Deadpool is a known bisexual - flirting with both genders whenever he felt like it. The character's co-creator Fabian Nicieza once said in an interview, "Deadpool is whatever sexual inclination his brain tells him he is in that moment. And then the moment passes... He is NO sex and ALL sexes. He is yours and everyone else's. So not dismissive, but rather the epitome of inclusive." It seems that Reynolds will remain relatively heterosexual in the film as Morena Baccarin is slated to play his on-screen love interest Vanessa Carlysle a.k.a. Copycat.
'Deadpool' is an upcoming superhero film based on the Marvel character of the same name and intended as the eighth installment in Marvel's cinematic 'X-Men' series. The film is directed by Tim Miller and is scheduled to be released on February 12, 2016. It stars Reynolds, Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T.J. Miller, Brianna Hildebrand, Gina Carano, Andre Tricoteux and Leslie Uggams.
