Huawei has made an official announcement on which of their phones will be receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware update, and Mate S users will be happy to know that the latest handset is part of that list.
According to Android Pit, Huawei has been notorious for being rather late in terms of software update, like the Huawei Mate 7, that had to wait almost a year to receive the update for Kitkat when it was first released. If this will be the case for the Mate S, the update could most probably be received next year.
Of course, everyone knows that Google's Nexus 6P, which was the first phone to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow, was created and manufactured by no other than Huawei themselves. This could mean that the company just might have an edge in the creation of an Android Marshmallow update and that the update will be coming much sooner than expected.
The Huawei Mate S received positive feedbacks during its launch. Users found the sleek hardware design to be one of a kind. GSM Arena lines up the Huawei Mate S specs for owners and potential owners:
- Size- 5.5 inches
- Resolution - 1080 x 1920 pixels with 401 pixels per inch screen density
- Chipset - HiSilicon Kirin 935
- CPU - Quad-core 2.2 GHz & quad-core 1.5 GHz
The Mate S brings a new generation of active touch, as Huawei's main website will put it, with a fingerprint 2.0 scanner and smart pressure-sensitive screen, which competes with iPhone 6s and its 3D Touch. The smartphone also allows smart wireless printing, document correction and smart voice recording.
The Huawei Mate S comes in three size variations, 32, 64 and 128 GB, and has a RAM of 3 GB. It's back-side camera packs a 13 megapixel capacity and is armed with optical image stabilization, autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash. The front side camera has a high 8 megapixels.
