A large group of iPhone 6s users are bringing in complaints about the iPhone 6s losing their data after restoring from iCloud. Reports in communities are claiming that messages and recent calls data disappear after restoring information through iCloud.
Further reports given by Value Walk, state that other users are voicing out issues on Apple Community Website about Safari browsing history and health statistics also disappearing after transitioning their data from older iPhones. Both the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus have been seen to be affected by the issue, and has happened more specifically when users restore their replacement iPhone 6S from an existing iPhone 6S backup.
When Gordon Kelly of Forbes reached out to Apple to give further thoughts on the issue, the Cupertino-based gadget manufacturer had nothing to say. As a result, users have been left hanging and unsure of the cause of the error, though the most logical explanation would be that it roots from errors found in iOS 9.
Latin Post shares that the best alternative so far would be to do a back up of data through iTunes instead of iCloud. All iPhone 6s and 6s Plus models now come out of the box running on iOS 9, where a lot of old phones are probably still running on old versions of the mobile operating system.
It has been reported that moving files from an iCloud from an old OS to a new one may also be the cause of the issue, while Apple remains quiet, users can only make calculated guesses.
There is yet to be a fix for this issue, as Factory reset, which is the most common fallback, only results in having to restore from these broken backups. Owners of older iPhones have not yet reported similar errors, so it appears to be a problem isolated to the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.
