Netflix's "F is for Family" just dropped a two-minute trailer that gives us a preview of what the show is going to be about and its showrunner/lead star Bill Burr talks about his collaboration with Vince Vaughn's production fit for the said series.
Within the first minute of the newly released trailer, one can say that the Bill Burr-led series is going to be a one of a kind nostalgia trip. "F is for Family" focuses on the life of the Murphy family who resides in a suburban community in the early 1970s. From the looks of it, the show will be offering slice-of-life vignettes as to how a family tries to juggle every change that comes their way - from wives getting jobs, restless teenage kids, and daughters who want to be astronauts/vampires.
A particular emphasis is placed on the kind of behavior that the Murphy's partiarch, Frank (Burr), demonstrates in raising his own family which is rife with outdated and somehow extremist beliefs towards gender roles.
"He's got kids with varying dispositions, a wife that seems incredibly patient and very 1970s, dad-like opinions about female vampire astronauts and the joys of chugging a cold one while behind the wheel of a car," columnist Dan McRae writes for Uproxx.
According to Slashfilm, joining Burr in the series as the other members of the Murphy family are actress Laura Dern (who will be playing Sue, his wife) and Justin Long as Frank's rebellious son named Sam, among others.
Speaking of behind-the-scenes information, showrunner Bill Burr has revealed that the production for "F is for Family" will be a collaboration with Vince Vaughn's Wild Wild West Television. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Burr reveals why he chose to work with Vaughn's team for the said series.
"[It's] the show I've always wanted to do," said Burr. "It captures all the characters of my childhood the way I remember it to be. Fortunately Mike Price and everyone at Wild West seems to know the same people I knew growing up. It's going to be a lot of fun to tell these stories," Burr said.
"F is for Family" is definitely going to be a hilarious ride that would be perfect for a weekend binge watch. Catch the full six-episode season on Netflix starting December 18.
