The 2015 Moto E model may still get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow software despite its exclusion from the official list Motorola revealed in October. According to reports, the device will certainly get the upgrade even without Motorola declaring it since it is a 2015 flagship phone.
Motorola remains silent about the official rollout of Android 6.0 Marshmallow to the 2015 Moto E but owners can still expect the upgrade to come although on a later time. The 2014 version of the device also was not included from the priority list but it is believed too to get the same upgrade soon.
Meanwhile, the older versions particularly the 2013 models of Moto E, Moto G and Moto X have already been announced to be left behind the upgrade due to specs qualification failure.
Here's the priority list of Motorola as to its Android 6.0 Marshmallow plans:
- 2015 Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen)
- 2015 Moto X Style (3rd Gen)
- 2015 Moto X Play
- 2014 Moto X Pure Edition in the US (2nd Gen)
- 2014 Moto X in Latin America, Europe and Asia (2nd gen)
- 2014 Moto G (2nd gen)
- 2014 Moto G with 4G LTE2 (2nd gen)
- DROID Turbo
- 2014 Moto MAXX
- 2014 Moto Turbo
- Google Nexus 6
Other devices up for the upgrade include the 2015 Moto G (3rd Gen), the 2015 Moto X, DROID Turbo 2, DROID Ultra and DROID Mini, among others.
The Android 6.0 Marshmallow will bring in new features and enhancements in battery management, user interface, web experience, and in the overall performance of the device.
One of the most impressive additions is Doze. With the Doze Mode, a power saving feature, users will be able to notably save a good amount of battery life as it will help manage, monitor and control existing apps, software, and even movement of the device. It will automatically put the device to sleep when it is idle as well the apps running in the background.
A custom ROM based on the Marshmallow software have also been made available for installation to the device by the XDA dev.
