Fans of "Supergirl" and "The Flash" who have been dreaming and longing for a crossover between the two superheroes could possibly rejoice as it has been rumored that a joint episode is in the works which is also intended to boost the former's TV digits.
A reliable source tells Blending Cool that the rumored and anticipated crossover may possibly happen but in one condition. Should CBS decide to order nine more episodes to extend "Supergirl" into a twenty-two episode season, the show can reach the very popular May Sweeps period and from there such collaboration may become a reality.
Apart from this, We Got This Covered also adds that this crossover may possibly push through given that Greg Berlanti is in charge of both "Supergirl" and "The Flash". Berlanti has also been responsible for crossovers between DC Universe characters in the past, particularly when Arrow and The Flash crossed paths which took place last year.
"After all, producer Greg Berlanti is heavily involved in both The Flash and Supergirl, so there's a very good chance that it could happen somewhere down the line. And, if a new report is to be believed, it's actually going to be taking place much sooner than expected," the website reports.
The prospect of this exciting collaboration between the two superhero shows pushing through has also been seen as a way to help the declining ratings of the Melissa Benoist-led series. Although "Supergirl" started off great as it was aired back-to-back with the hugely popular "The Big Bang Theory", ComicBook said that CBS' decision to transfer the show to another timeslot drastically affected the performance of the show in the ratings game.
Hopefully, with the planned "Supergirl" episode extension and this crossover which are all planned to happen within the crucial sweeps week, interest and support for the show would be renewed. Catch more of Supergirl Mondays at 8:00 P.M on CBS and "The Flash", Mondays and Tuesdays at 8:00 P.M on The CW.
