Despite "Agent Carter" getting the official approval for a new season, the critically acclaimed series is off to a rather turbulent start - with casting rumors revolving around the addition of new faces and a possible farewell of a beloved confidant.

Celebrities from rivaling TV shows are jumping ship to "Agent Carter" this time around. Raising the Bar's Currie Graham, Outlander's Lotte Verbeek, and The Newsroom's Wynn Everett are all confirmed to be a part of the new cast for season two.

According to Screencrush, Graham will be playing the role the husband of Everett's character - an influential business magnate named Calvin Chadwick. Verbeek's role, on the other hand, Ana Jarvis, will be playing a supporting role that Peggy (played by actress Hayley Atwell) comes to terms as she moves to a new town.

It was was Everett's role as Whitney Frost however that has piqued the interest and curiosity of fans and critics of the show. Considered as the main antagonist of season two, Whitney Frost (also known as Madame Masque) is a cunning and brilliant inventor that is set off to have a very ambiguous relationship with lead character Peggy.

"Of course, she won't initially be the bad guy. She's a very complicated person. Through the course of the season, you get to see how she moves to that side. It's not a very simple question of her being a villain," shares executive producer Tara Butters tells Entertainment Weekly.

With the entry of new faces on season two, there are also rumors that Lyndsy Fonseca's character, Angie Martinelli, won't be coming back for the new season.

Fonseca recently took to Twitter a statement that could light fire to speculations of her not returning to the show.

"I have the best #AgentCarter fans #Cartinelli forever! Your support is amazing but I still have no word about Angie in this season :(," reads Fonseca's post on the popular social networking site.

Angie, Peggy's accidental best friend, has been very popular with fans and has received a cult following for her witty and steadfast character. Fans have even dubbed their tandem as Cartinelli - an amalgamation of their surnames.

Watch out for more updates on Marvel's "Agent Carter" which is set to air midseason next year on ABC.
