Two years ago, Dexter aired its awaited series finale that rather left fans disappointed. In spite of this, rumors are now spreading that Showtime is planning to resurrect the Michael Hall-starred series.

On Thursday, the show’s official Twitter page posted a Thanksgiving-themed tweet which reads: “Who wants a leg? Happy Thanksgiving from #Dexter!”. The photo included also dropped a teaser saying: “His knife’s freshly sharpened”.

Followers of the show immediately responded to Dexter’s “current” status, receiving 686 likes while re-tweeting it for more than 400 times. Comments also bombarded, asking and pleading for the show’s return.

During the recent TCA press tour, Showtime boss David Nevins has addressed the potential revival of Dexter in a report from Screen Rant. He claimed that the well-watched drama is the one show he considers giving another shot. He continued that it’s only a matter of “right timing”.

“If there’s a willingness to do it, I would certainly listen. Certainly I’d look at ‘Dexter’”, Nevins added.

As for the show’s main casting, Nevins confirmed that he’ll only board the project if Michael C. Hall will be up to it.

“It would have to involve Michael. I would only do it with Michael … It remains to be seen if they’re going to want to do it, if I’m going to want to do it,” he commented via Screen Crush.

Nevins shared that the writers of the show didn’t really like the idea of killing Dexter as a way to conclude his story. But should Showtime greenlights Dexter as a limited series, Nevins shared that he would want to recreate Dexter in “a new concept and configuration”.

“I would want the show to feel different and not just be a continuation of the old show,” he previewed.
Showtime has yet to comment on this latest development about Dexter. Should the cable network refuse to redo the show, fans shouldn’t lose hope. Other networks/ streaming giants are just always around the corner to give Dexter another shot.

Following an intriguing tweet posted on Thanksgiving, fans of Dexter have speculated that Showtime is in the works of rebooting the show. Fans are still waiting for confirmation from the cable network regarding this development.
