Smartphone manufacturer HTC which promised the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to its handsets has recently confirmed its availability some models. The newest update will be arrive on HTC One M9, HTC One M8, HTC One M9+ and other pioneer models.
According to Day Herald, the HTC has made announcements regarding its handsets that are eligible to receive the Android M upgrade. The HTC One M8 and the HTC One M9 were reported to obtain the update sometime at the beginning of December 2015. After that, the Taiwanese tech giant will gradually roll out the upgrade for a number of models which include the HTC One E9+, the HTC One M9+, the HTC One E9, the HTC One ME, the HTC One M8 EYE, the HTC One E8, the HTC Desire Butterfly, the HTC Desire 826, the HTC Desire 820 and the HTC Desire 816. However, there were no details revealed yet as to when these devices will receive the update.
Furthermore, Gotta Be Mobile reported that the Google Play Edition HTC One M8 has already received Android 6.0 Marshmallow. But it's the only handset that obtained Google's latest software so far. Nevertheless, by the end of the week the unlocked HTC One M8 should see updates arrive to be followed by the One M9, carrier models and more.
The unlocked models will see the updates first, and carrier models like the Verizon or AT&T HTC One M9 usually are the last. That is because the carriers have a strict testing phase. Thus, all updates must pass through, meet, and be approved before being released to the consumers.
Meanwhile, AndroidPIT cited the unfortunate handsets that were confirmed not to obtain the update. This includes the HTC One Mini 2, HTC One Mini and HTC One M7 that are now more than two years old.
Now that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update has arrived on HTC One M8 units, other models are sure to follow. Owners of the aforementioned handsets, however, will just have to wait for the exact schedule.
