Nintendo NX Leaked Patent Imply New Features

By

Nintendo is coming up with a new console, codenamed the "Nintendo NX," and it's not going to be anything like the Wii or Wii U.

With the revelation of the new gaming console by Nintendo coming closer, more rumours continue to come out, one of the latest being confirmed by a patent application showing some details of the console features.

According to Tech Insider, the patent points to a "supplemental computing device" that the console works with differently depending on the distance of the two devices. If close by, the two devices can work together to process everything with speed, including graphics and sound effects. If it is far away, then the console can only provide asynchronous or supplementary support.

The console can also couple to multiple supplementary computing devices. The patent, according to Nintendo Life, was actually filed a while back, dating as far as June 2014.

The introduction of cloud computation through supplementary computing devices coming into play may be a big development, as Microsoft attempted to do this with One a while back, says Game Zone.

Moreover, the June 2014 patent further strengthen the claim of a convertible form console that can shift between a mobile, semi-mobile, semi-stationary, or stationary computing device.

Which means that the Nintendo NX could be used as a table top mounted console that is plugged into a television set, or could also be used while going on mobile while being connected to a smartphone, tablet, laptop or computer. The patent goes further to say that wearable computing devices and body-mounted computing devices can be capable of communicating and performing functions with the Nintendo NX.

Nintendo plans to break the silence this upcoming 2016, and will announce features, specs and the final name of the Nintendo NX (as NX has been a codename only for the past few months), and will also announce the launch date which could be anywhere between the end of 2016 and the start of 2017.
