‘Creed’ News: Michael B. Jordan excited for possible sequel; Oscar Buzz for Sylvester Stallone

'Creed' is a sports drama film starring Michael B. Jordan as the titular Adonis "Donnie" Johnson Creed. The actor revealed his intense physical workout to get in shape for his role and shared his enthusiasm over the possibility of returning for a second time for a sequel. Sylvester Stallone, who reprised his role as Rocky Balboa, is currently generating Oscar buzz for his latest performance as the iconic boxer.

Michael B. Jordan underwent rigorous physical training for his role as Adonis "Donnie" Johnson Creed in the latest Rocky spin-off film. Donnie was introduced as the son of Rocky Balboa's rival-turned-friend Apollo Creed, who was a talented yet underrated light heavyweight boxer. The film follows the story of Rocky becoming Donnie's trainer and mentor in the professional boxing industry.

According to Business Insider, Jordan sought the help of personal trainer Corey Calliet after they met on the set of 'Fantastic Four'. Jordan and Calliet worked together in Los Angeles to achieve the actor's ripped physique as Donnie. It was revealed that Calliet mixed up Jordan's exercise regime of cardio and boxing training depending on the scenes they were filming with director Ryan Coogler.

According to the A.V. Club, Jordan couldn't be more enthusiastic to return for a second time for a possible follow-up. The 28-year old actor told reporters, "A character so rich as this, and the world he's in, I want to see what happens to him next and what he does." No official announcements of a second film have been made as of the present but Coogler seemed interested in continuing the spin-offs.

Another article from the Daily Mail reported that Sylvester Stallone may be up for an Oscar for his performance as the iconic Robert "Rocky" Balboa on 'Creed'. The 69-year old action star wrote and starred in the original 1976 release 'Rocky'. He went on to reprise his role as the fictional world heavyweight champion boxer in subsequent releases.

Producer Charles Winkler said, "Just from the trailer, it seems to be the best work he's ever done. He hits it out of the park, and if there's a vote, I'll be voting for him... talk has happened without us having to boost it at all, and deservedly so. We know Sylvester Stallone as an action star, but we forget he started as a character actor." Stallone was nominated for two Academy Awards for 'Rocky' for Best screenplay and Best Actor and a new nomination for a new performance would not come as a surprise.

'Creed' is a spin-off of the 'Rocky' franchise starring Sylvester Stallone and Michael B. Jordan. It premiered on November 25, 2015 in the United States and garnered positive reviews and acclaim from critics and fans alike. It is directed by Ryan Coogler of the award winning film 'Fruitvale Station'.
