'Beauty and the Beast' lead actress Emma Watson recently wrapped up filming together with co-stars Dan Stevens and Luke Evans. She called the whole experience "unbelievable". Meanwhile, composer Alan Menken is also working on Seth Rogen's R-rated comedy film 'Sausage Party'.
According to Broadway World, the cast and crew of the upcoming Disney live-action adaptation have wrapped up principal photography in time for the scheduled 2017 premiere. Emma Watson will play main protagonist and iconic Disney princess Belle, Dan Stevens will portray Beast, a prince cursed to live the life of a monster, and Luke Evans will play the notoriously self-absorbed Gaston.
Watson shared a tweet on her final days on the filming set which read, "The 21st of August must be an auspicious day for me 15 yrs ago I began my journey as Hermione15 yrs later I wrap on my 1st musical as Belle." Evans also posted a shorter tweet that simply said, "Last day on BATB today :("
The upcoming film will be adapted from Disney's animated musical of the same name released in November 1991. The original film was based on the French fairytale by novelist Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont that followed the story of a prince cursed into a monster. He imprisons a beautiful yet naïve young woman in his castle and eventually forms a strong bond with her.
According to Moviepilot, fans of the fantasy film were treated to a sneak peek at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California. Exclusive footage from 'Beauty and the Beast' showed Watson's Belle descending from a grand staircase dressed in her iconic yellow ball gown as well as Evan's Gaston singing his heart out with Josh Gad.
Watson couldn't help but gush over her experience filming with Bill Condon and the rest of the cast and crew. She said, "We have had an unbelievable time shooting Beauty and the Beast. It has been a complete dream come true. I can't wait for the film to release in 2017."
The upcoming adaptation is said to feature songs from original composer Alan Menken as well as new ones especially created for the film. According to /Film, the Oscar winner lent his music making prowess to Seth Rogen's new R-rated comedy film 'Sausage Party'. The film follows food items that spring to life in a grocery store when people aren't looking.
Menken's recent musical contributions were featured in 'Mirror Mirror', 'Tangled' and 'Enchanted'. He won eight Academy Awards for his work and has collaborated with numerous high-profile lyricists including Howard Ashman, Glenn Slater, Stephen Schwartz and Tim Rice.
'Beauty and the Beast' is an upcoming fantasy-musical film directed by Bill Condon. It is a live-action adaptation of the classic French fairytale that first had its cinematic debut in Disney's 1991 release of the same name.
