The Samsung Galaxy S6 is one of the lucky handsets that are confirmed to obtain the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. There were photos of this flagship smartphone running on Android M leaked, revealing its flat new design and other enhancements.
According to International Business Times, a lot of smartphone enthusiasts know the fact that Samsung is gearing up to roll out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Galaxy S6, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge+, among others.
After the Note 5 leak, another set of images made it out, unveiling flattened version of S6's TouchWiz user interface.. The pull-down status shutter, which is used to gain quick access to settings and notifications, has been restructured with a refined white background and blue text combination.
NDTV Gadgets reported that one of the leaked images also featured the Galaxy S6 camera with a shutter speed control in the its Pro mode. With this, users can play with the ISO, exposure, white balance, and other manual settings.
As reported last month, a supposed leaked Samsung Android 6.0 Marshmallow update roadmap spreaded online and according to the file, Samsung Electronics will start pushing the latest Android versions next month, with the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ smartphones first in line. The list also indicate the release the Marshmallow update for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in January.
Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge on the other hand, are believed to obtain the upgrade in February. Unfortunately, there is no schedule available for the OS update of the Galaxy Alpha and Galaxy S5.
Some of the new features of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update include revamped app permissions; Google Now on Tap; new Chrome feature that will basically change the Web experience for Android users; and new ways to handle Web links.
The Android Pay mobile payment system is also official with Android M as well as the new fingerprint APIs for developers to add into their apps. It also added a silent mode, vibrate mode, as well as a 'Do Not Disturb' mode to block all sounds or only alarms and notifications. The battery saver features called Doze that will make Android devices smart about managing power is also one of the notable additions in the latest operating system.
Going back to S6, Realty Today said on its article that Android 6.0 Marshmallow software update for the Galaxy device is now in the testing phase. Its rollout will commence right after the arrival of the upgrade to Galaxy Note 5 units this month.
