EXO, a nine member Kpop group, sturdily makes their way to international stardom. While still battling over their rival group, Big Bang, from YG Entertainment, EXO has become SM Entertainment's answer in making a huge bang for themselves with the group's ever-growing popularity.
According to AllKpop, EXO was featured as a banner on the main iTunes page following their whopping set of records. The group was included in the top 10 for 12 countries on the iTunes charts marked in the morning of December 10. EXO's album was 1st in Hong Kong, Macau, and Thailand, 2nd in Vietnam, 3rd in Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan, 5th in Finland, 6th in Turkey and 7th in Sweden.
This is the same album, "Exodus", also known to have snagged the 70th spot on Billboard's Top Album Sales chart,and placed the 90th on the Billboard 200 earlier this year. According to Billboard, the first week of April had the largest sales for a Kpop act in America. Additionally, their lead single "Call Me Baby" also landed in Canada's Hot 100.
While this wave of recognitions is enough to prove EXO's international fame, their fanbase referred to as EXO-Ls also continue to grow, which in effect creates more buzz in renowned social websites like Tumblr and Twitter.
As reported by AllKpop, EXO is the sole Korean group to bag "Tumblr's 'Most Reblogged Songs' of the year." EXO's songs took number 11 and 12 places with songs "Love Me Right" and "Call Me Baby" respectively.
On another social media site best known for its use of hashtags, EXO is among the four Kpop groups to top the list for music category. GOT7, BTS, forever rival Big Bang, and EXO made it in "Twitter's 2015 Top 10 Global Keywords" with EXO coming in 4th, as reported by Daily Kpop News.
All these recognitions without a doubt make EXO a promising group that can further the influence of Korean music in a global scale.
On that note, this idol group from SM Entertainment is already set for a loaded schedule next year. EXO will be visiting North America on February 2016 to hold concerts in five cities including New York, Chicago, Dallas, Vancouver and Los Angeles.
