Motorola which promised to bring the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to its handsets has confirmed its arrival to the Moto E with 4G LTE. Aside from that, the DROID Turbo 2, Maxx 2 and X Force are also slated to receive the Android M.
According to 9to5Google, Motorola first announced its Android 6.0 Marshmallow rollout plans in October. At that moment, 11 devices are included in the list that was mostly made up ofunits from 2015 and 2014. However, Moto E, the company's entry-level smartphone, was not included on the said list.
Thankfully, the list has been updated and now includes the budget device. But if users have one in the US, they are out of luck since the update seemingly won't arrive US shores.
Motorola has reportedly left the States and China out of its list of markets due to receive the Marshmallow update. The only 2015 Moto E with 4G LTE handsets that are eligible to get the Android 6.0 are the ones in Canada, Latin America, Europe and Asia (excluding China). Moto could still change its plans, and does state in the list that the China upgrade is still being evaluated. Moreover, there has been no statement made with regards to the US market.
International Business Times reported that the list also includes Moto X Force, Droid Maxx 2, Droid Turbo 2 and excludes the first generation Moto E, Moto X and Moto G. This indicates a huge possibility that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update will be soon released for the devices at all.
The updated Marshmallow software features a lot of improvements and enhancements such as Google Now on Tap; the power-saving Doze mode; Android Pay; a more updated app permission system and so on.
Furthermore, Yibada cited some of the Motorola handsets that are not entitled to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. The list include the Moto E 4G (2015) and the 2014 editions of Moto X, Moto G, Moto G 4G in China. The official blog, however, did not mention whether users of these handsets in the United States will be receiving the latest Android build.
The users of the Moto E with 4G LTE can now rejoice as their handsets are confirmed to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. Moreover, users of this handset in U.S and China will still have to wait for further announcements regarding the newest OS rollout.
