Motorola has been very vocal on its plans of bringing Android 6.0 Marshmallow to its handsets like Moto X Pure Edition. Now, the 2015 version continues to receive the newest upgrade by Google, providing some enchancements and additions to the device.

According to Gotta Be Mobile, after weeks and weeks of testing, Motorola has announced the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the 2015 Moto X Pure Edition. It was noted to be coming soon, and yesterday it finally started arriving for selected carriers in the US.

The Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen) is an unlocked phone that is sold directly by Motorola and not by any specific carrier. This means one mass update to rollout to all owners is expected. Though, yesterday Android 6.0 Marshmallow was released for those who are using the phone on select carriers, not all.

Additionally, a Motorola employee confirmed on Google+ that the Moto X Pure Edition being used on Verizon, Sprint, or US Cellular could expect the same update throughout the week.

iDigitalTimes stated that the update will be sent over the air. This means it should reach the Moto X Pure Edition handsets wirelessly. Models receiving the update include the Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and U.S. Cellular. Users should be notified to update their devices automatically once the software hits, but they can also access it manually by heading to Settings > About Phone > Software Update to see whether an update is available.

Meanwhile, Tech Times cited some of the new features and enhancements that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow will bring to the Motorola handset and this include the Doze Mode, which monitors the smartphone and puts it in a deep sleep when the device isn't being used. This feature also helps in extending the battery life of the handset considerably. Another is the Now on Tap which takes Google Now to the next level by displaying pertinent information based on whatever you're doing; and the Android Pay, Google's answer to Apple Pay. This mobile payment system works in a similar way, making the smartphone purchases a one-tap affair.

Moto X Pure Edition 2015 should keep in mind that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow software rollout happen in stages and might take several days or weeks to hit all devices.
