The Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 which was unveiled together with the Redmi Note 3 smartphone last month is now available for pre-order at Gear Best with a starting price of $241 with free shipping.
According to iDigitalTimes, the China-based company does not market the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 in U.S but that doesn't mean possible consumers can't purchase at all. The tablet is currently available for preorder at GearBest.com in both 16GB and 64GB storage models. The 16GB model is priced at $204.69, while the 64GB model is sold for $248.96. The devices come with free shipping and GearBest's 45-day money back guarantee. Xiaomi has not stated when the tablet will be officially on sale, but GearBest says preorders for the tablet end Dec. 20.
International Business Times reported that the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 was launched to replace the older Mi Pad tablet that hit the market last year. The older model arrives sporting a polycarbonate construction, but the successor model sports a full-metallic design. Its weight and thickness have also been reduced to 322 grams and 7 mm respectively.
The newest tablet by Xiaomi features a large screen of 7.9-inches that carries support for 1536 x 2048 pixels and 326 ppi pixel density. It houses the Intel Atom Z5-8500 chipset that features a quad-core processor working at 2.24 GHz together with Intel HD graphics.
Android Guys added that the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 has a dual camera set-up with 1080P Full HD video recording and excellent low-light performance with back-side illuminated (BSI) CMOS sensors. Videos and photos look outstanding as it will be captured from either the 8-megapixel rear-facing or 5-megapixel front snappers. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and is powered by a 6190mAh Lithium-ion Polymer Battery that supports both 5V 2A power inputs.
Additionally, the Mi Pad 2 supports the new USB Type-C port with its transmission speed 10 times faster than the traditional USB 2.0. The USB plug is reversible and users can connect it to the phone in whichever way they want. This handset also has Bluetooth 4.1 that provides fast transmission of data, pictures and files. Sensors included in the device are Hall Sensor, Gravity Sensor, Ambient Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Gesture Sensor, E-compass, and more.
With the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2's availability at Gear Best, interested customers in U.S can now purchase the handset. However, the newly released smartphone is not compatible with any cellular service in the U.S so buyers will only have the option of using Wi-Fi.
